Thermopolis-Hot Springs Wyoming's "HOT SPOT". A great place to stay year round swim, soak, and slide in pools from the "World's Largest Mineral Hot Springs." The most visited State Park in Wyoming. The name thermopolis is a combination of the Latin word thermal (heat) and a Greek word polis (city). Visitors can spend hours touring the Hot Springs Museum and Cultural Center.

The museum houses a large number of relics, pictures, and Indian artifacts including a copy of the treaty giving the nearby hot spring to the people of the United States. The original back bar from the "Hole-in-the-Wall Saloon" is also in the museum. Powwow is the steady thump of beaters on a hide-covered drum, a cadence of mixed voices singing in Arapaho, Shoshone, Crow, or Lakota, and the sweep and swirl of men and boys wearing brightly colored regalia, of young girls with fringed shawls, older women dressed in buckskin, even tiny tots in beaded moccasins and creamy white buckskin outfits.
