TOWER JUNCTION AREA
Yellowstone River
Tower Falls flows into the Yellowstone River
Petrified Tree
North and west from Tower Junction inside Yellowstone National Park is a side road leading south approximately one mile west of Roosevelt Lodge. This half-mile spur road leads to Petrified Tree, a stump still standing where it grew millions of years ago. It was fossilized (petrified) after being covered by a fall of volcanic ash.

Specimen Ridge
On this little mountain, the eroded remnant of an ancient lava ash deposit, are some of Yellowstone's most famous petrified forests - buried alive by the lava ash and still standing in the same location where they grew.

Tower Falls
The falls were named for the unusual tower-like volcanic rock formations at the brink; the falls tumble 132 feet. Beyond the falls, Tower Creek splashes down into the Yellowstone River.
