Tourism is the Front Door to Non-Tourism Economic Development
Join us in launching Wyoming Project Front Door
Opening the door to mapping a tourism master plan for Wyoming.
Why do we need a Tourism Master Plan?
Successful tourism doesn’t just happen. And it’s not the result of simply running good ads. It’s the result of detailed planning that incorporates branding, product development, and marketing. Tourism master planning to focus on product development and must include all partners – private and public – to build a blueprint for the future. And, it needs to be done on a regional as well as state-wide level.
The purpose of a master plan is to present a comprehensive view of Wyoming’s collective tourism products and projects, including state, federal, local, private and/or non-profit initiatives. It also provides a regional and state-wide perspective of existing and planned projects. It creates awareness among destinations, allowing you to build on synergies while capitalizing on what sets you apart.
What will be accomplished?
To begin with, you’ll help us create a map that visually depicts Wyoming’s tourism current and planned tourism product. You know the saying, “A picture speaks a thousand words?” It is important to be able to see the geographic relationships among regional attractions, attraction clusters, services, service centers, access routes, and gateways.
The map will provide information to develop a database resulting in a master list of proposed tourism projects such as trail development, museum development, hotel development, etc. and a master list of existing major tourism “attractors” for each area.
An Executive Summary will be made available to tourism-related businesses, lodging tax boards, city and county planning offices, other state agencies and elected officials. The Executive Summary will help create awareness about our tourism industry. It will also demonstrate the local, state and private collaboration essential to building a strong and lively tourism industry.
